SUMNER SS2 will feature live performances from TYCHO BRAHE, PONYLOAF, and VICTOR X-RAY (aka Nerve Agent/Now:Zero), together with an audiovisual Sumner montage by Anna Petrou and Jody Smith, and selections of are and important Joy Division, New Order and Electronic videos. The Visy Theatre space at the Powerhouse provides the platform for a different style of event where one is invited to immerse themselves in the music and production, and engage with the artists and fellow fans over drinks during set intervals. The Silhouette Series is another example of Trans:Com's commitment to showcasing local electronic bands and artists in an artistic and cultural setting..
True Faith TRANS:COM, Brisbane's first established independent electronic music label, will be paying tribute to New Order's front man Bernard Sumner, with the next Silhouette Series event called 'SUMNER SS2' - a live electronica tribute and showcase to be held on Saturday 13th of May at the Brisbane Powerhouse Visy Theatre. Bernard Sumner - primary musician in legendary post-punk edge walkers Joy Division - songwriter and technologist for New Order (that greatest of all dance/guitar crossover bands of such incredible influence to every subsequent electronic band and artist) - and collaborator with Johnny Marr, Karl Bartos and Neil Tennant via Electronic. As if that didn't indicate a career of huge credibility, Sumner was also a producer and remixer of vital importance to the emergent northern British house/acid/techno scene under the tag 'Bemusic'. Sumner has also collaborated with 808 State and the Chemical Brothers amongst others, and was a part owner of The Hacienda and Dry Bar - the centres of the Madchester storm. Sumner is the godfather of alternative/electronic music.
