Ah just fresh back from the mountains. Well not fresh really. We've all gone kind of feral and grown rather unsightly beards but nothing that a shave and a long bath wont fix. Been so busy its been difficult to post news lately, and even more difficult to discern between news and childish jibberish. Here is a bit of a crap on about what been happening in the land of the loaf anyway.
SHOW SUNDAY NIGHT @ THE HEALER
Firstly - on Sunday June 29 the loaf plays a show at the Healer with Architecture in Helsinki. They are in Bris for the weekend on tour with the Go-Betweens and slotted in an extra show so that we can all share their joy.
CREATIVE SOLITUDE
Well, for the last two weeks Shane, Dan and I have been locked in the detention centre that was our farmhouse retreat. Daily (non-music) activities included such things as bushwalks, mountain gazing, cow-fearing, cooking, the entire series of neon genesis evangelion, and a new form of sport that is a cross between cricket and baseball. It was a beautiful place, very quiet, and the perfect environment for our two seperate studios and lots of productivity power. (Turns out they do leadership camps for executives at this place too which only aided our 'team-building' spirit). The new material is very exciting. We are aiming for the end of July to mid-August for finalisation.
GERLING & SHURIKEN
Thanks to the Gerling guys for the great gig last Saturday. It was definately worth interrupting our little retreat for the big trip back. And special props to Darren for our lovely lighting. Very considerate. Thanks to Shuriken too! We had a blast.
KID 606 & CURSEOV
Just previous to the retreat we had the pleasure of touring with Miguel AKA "The Kid" and Curse Ov Dialect which was a very inspiring little run about. The afterparty in Sydney was probably the highlight for me. 100 people in a little shoebox club somewhere in Oxford St going mental at 4am to the Kid's encore set. It was a vision that will long stick in my memory. Much better than the actual show at the Annandale. We had a pretty rough time that night with our setup and sound. Nothing to do with our engineer, there was just a pervading apathy that made it all feel really pissweak. And it doesnt help when some drunken yobbo twit abuses you both during and after the show. Oh well, you win some you lose some. Melbourne made up for it anyway. The Corner hotel is probably the best venue I've seen. Such a great set up and plenty of creative types in the crowd. Thanks for the warm reception and the kind words southern cousins! You all rock.
